2. This just in: It has begun, and there's no stopping it now. Here's what some Girl Geeks World Wide have had to say:

From Cecil Belle:
Girl Geeks could be crazy enough to randomly move halfway around the world and think that it is a perfectly sane thing to do.... and are surprised when people tell them they are brave.

Girl Geeks go by a plethora of names...just because you know one of their names doesn't mean you know all of them.

Girl Geeks rarely look their age.

From Sara Hunt:
Some of us know the difference between Marvel and DC comics.

Many of us love to take weekend trips to Comic-Cons,
Trek-Cons, Game Cons, and other such Cons.

We also enjoy history and a great Renaissance Festival.

Some of us know the meanings and symbolism behind flowers, stones, the weather, and wood types.

Some of sit down and "code" databases and new programs just to take our mind off the world.

From Jessica Woolard:
Girl Geeks can patiently observe while others make mistakes, and learn from them.

From Miss Edna Mae:

This Girl Geek. . .

is inspired.

gets bored so she spends her Saturday morning watching the sunrise in solitude and then volunteers as a clinic escort.

is a nonconformist-conformist; which is not the same as a conformist alone, but is alone none the less.

is wordy and gets the words «hero» and «heroine» stuck in their throat, but for different reasons.

was victimized, but the worst was by her own thoughts before she realized she could stop that too.

reads, writes to the drum of her muses, has found two and has seven still unaccounted for, and reads some more.

knits, cooks, loves and is loved, creates, shares, kvetches, collects poker chips and doesn't play poker, moves, purges her life even when it hurts like hell, and generally speaking -

is a mean bitch.

is the wrong kind of geek.

wonders when being a geek became cool and why she again, didn't get the memo.

is always left wanting more and is okay with that.

does her taxes at the Satterwhites' grave.

has lost integrity, and was relieved to have escaped to tell the tale.

learned early that failure doesn't hurt unless your buy the shame its packaged it.

«no», like failure, is for that moment and doesn't last forever; just ask or do it differently next time.

a promise is only as good as the actions that follow it.

lives that actions can come before promises, and promises can come before action.

has no tolerance for intolerance, and loves the dichotomy of that.

makes no mistakes in the kitchen, just makes up new recipes, some of which she may not want to repeat.

knows the difference between being and being your job.

Lives alone with her cat, sips wine while humming along to nina simone, staring at the page before her that is empty save the phrase that woke her up at two in the morning. Muse #2 is a rude bitch.

travels at the slightest hint of invitation... and when not invited, takes her own road trip.

has work to do.
